The world’s best discus thrower, Sweden’s Daniel Ståhl, has confirmed his participation in the 70th Hanžeković Memorial.

Ståhl is the reigning world champion from the 2019 Doha Championships, currently leading the world ranking with a fantastic 71.37 m throw from Sollentuna on 10 August. Only a day later, he won with a 69.23m throw in Turku, at the first meeting of the Continental Tour Gold series, which the Hanžeković Memorial also belongs to. The Zagreb meeting record is 68.17, held by current world silver medallist, Jamaica’s Frederick Dacres, since 2018.

The 70th Hanžeković Memorial will take place at Zagreb’s Mladost Stadium on Tuesday, 15 September.
