The most intriguing event at the 2011 World Championships in Daegu was the disqualification of Usain Bolt in the 100m final due to false start. So the world record holder came to Zagreb two weeks later with a clear intention to run significantly faster than 9.92, which was enough for Yohan Blake to win the world title in Korea.
Despite a very bad start, Bolt won in 9.85 and improved on the meeting record set by Tyson Gay in the previous year by seven hundredths of a second.
„I am not totally satisfied with the result, but I am happy for improving on the meeting record. I had a bad start and I lost concentration at the very beginning of the race. I feel I could have run much faster“, said the miraculous Jamaican sprinter, whose appearance attracted huge public and media interest in Zagreb and the whole region.
