Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred will run the 200m in Zagreb, the event in which she holds the world lead with 21.88

Current Olympic 100m champion Julien Alfred will compete at the jubilee 75th Boris Hanžeković Memorial in Zagreb on 24 May.

Saint Lucia’s sprinter won the 100m gold medal at the Paris Olympic Games last summer, clocking a phenomenal 10.72, which placed her eighth on the 100m all-time list. She also added a 200m silver medal with a 22.08 race.

Just 10 days ago, on 18 April, Alfred ran a sensational 200m race, 21.88, at a meet in Gainesville, Florida – the second-fastest time ever recorded in the event so early in the season, behind only Marion Jones’ 21.84 from March 1999. The world’s fastest woman will compete in 200m at Zagreb’s Mladost Stadium.

The Boris Hanžeković Memorial 200m record, set at 22.04 by Christine Mboma in 2021, could very likely be set on 24 May, with spectators possibly witnessing the first-ever sub-22 seconds race in Zagreb.
