Pravdica Expects Three Croatian Long Jumpers to Jump 8 Meters at the Zagreb City Challenge

Women’s and men’s long jump competition starts on Friday 6 September at 6 pm at the Ban Jelačić square

Paris 2024 double bronze medallist Jasmine Moore (USA) and Paris 2024 Olympic finalist Filip Pravdica (CRO) lead women’s and men’s long jump competition at the Zagreb City Challenge, the city competition which will be held at the Zagreb’s main square – Ban Jelačić square, starting at 6 pm. It will be the third edition of this street event.

„Our goal every year is to be better and more innovative. The Zagreb City Challenge is being held for the third year at Zagreb’s main square. The men’s and women’s long jump competition starts tomorrow at 6 pm and we are in for quite a spectacle. I am glad that the world U20 champion from Lima Roko Farkaš (CRO) will also be competing, which adds an extra challenge for Filip (Pravdica, CRO). We also have Jana Koščak (CRO), the world heptathlon champion, and this is a great opportunity for them to showcase their talents in front of the Zagreb audience,“ announced Natko Bošnjak, Zagreb Meeting CEO.

„This is the first time I am competing at the street meeting which makes me super excited. Competing in Paris and winning two medals was a dream, I had so much fun there. It was hard to come back to training after Paris as the emotions were really high but meetings like this one make me excited. It is also super exciting to have young talents like Jana Koščak  competing. Shanieka (Ricketts, JAM) will compete here as well and I am looking forward to seeing her doing the long jump. I heard that Filip jumped to the fountain last year after he won, it will be a game time decision for me. If the men’s winner jumps to the fountain, I will do it too, why not“, said double Olympic bronze medallist Jasmine Moore.

Filip Pravdica is aiming for a historic achievement, as he and fellow Croatian long jumpers, world U20 champion Roko Farkaš and Marko Čeko, set their sights on clearing the 8-meter mark. If all three manage to do so, it will mark the first time in history that three Croatian athletes have reached this milestone in the same competition.

„In 2022 I was second, last year I won at the Zagreb City Challenge. I hope I can win tomorrow as well. The competition is strong, I am looking forward to competing with both world U20 champion Roko Farkaš  and Marko Čeko. Roko’s 8.17 meter-jump motivated me a lot. Marko is the one that loves fans and a good atmosphere. I think we can see for the first time in history three Croatians jumping over 8 meter. You can expect the spectacle tomorrow.“
