Filip Mihaljević achieved another excellent result at the Diamond League meeting in Doha. Croatia’s best shot putter finished second in the final attempt with a throw of 20.89 behind former world champion Tom Walsh, who threw 21.63.
Filip’s longest throw in Doha was 21.57 metres. The experimental rules, according to which the winner is decided in the sixth attempt among the three top competitors after the first five attempts, were not beneficial to Serbia’s record holder Armin Sinančević. He had the best throw of the competition (21.88), but he foot fouled in the final attempt and finished third.
Sandra Perković also returned to competition after an injury. The Olympic shot put champion finished third at Doha with a throw of 63.60 metres. Sandra had a foot foul in the decisive sixth attempt, in which Cuba’s Yaimé Pérez was the best (63.75, 61.35 in the final) ahead of Valarie Allman of the USA (65.57, 58.58 in the final). Marija Tolj, member of the Dinamo Zrinjevac Athletics Club, also appeared at Doha and finished sixth with a put of 60.75 metres.
