Blanka Vlašić, two-time world champion and Croatian high jump record holder, is returning to competition in February! The 2010 world’s best female track and field athlete confirmed on her website www.blanka-vlasic.hr that she had resumed her usual training schedule after successful treatment of her Achilles injury at a clinic in Carlow, Ireland. She is planning to return to competition at the Göteborg meeting on 15 February 2014. After that, she is also planning to appear at the meeting in Prague on 25 February and at the World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland, from 7 to 9 March 2014.
„I am happy about my plans to return but there is still a lot of work waiting for me in the coming training cycles. This is why we are only considering the second part of the indoor season. But I am not afraid. I am ready for the challenges in front of me“, Blanka said.
„Blanka is more motivated than ever and you can feel that atmosphere in training“, her father and coach Joško Vlašić confirmed.
Let us remind you, Blanka jumped her personal best of 2.08, which is also the second best result in this event ever, at the Zagreb Meeting on 31 August 2009. After a two-year break, we are looking forward to seeing her at the next Zagreb World Challenge on 2 September 2014.
