An Increasingly Popular Delivery Method is Also the Greenest

Croatian Post’s Parcel Lockers Can Even Be Found on the Island of Vis

Research on consumer expectations and habits regarding shopping in international online stores increasingly shows a growing awareness of sustainability. Consumers, to varying degrees, are implementing sustainability in their own lives, and therefore expect the same approach from companies, brands, and the industry in general. Climate-neutral operations are a long-term goal of Croatian Post.

In line with this, more and more postal workers are making deliveries with the help of over 420 electric vehicles, which make up the largest green fleet in Croatia. Just last year, postal workers covered five million green kilometers, saving more than 870 tons of CO2. Customers can also participate in reducing harmful emissions by using parcel lockers, a green delivery channel that is becoming an increasingly popular option for receiving and sending packages.

Using parcel lockers reduces CO2 emissions by increasing the rate of successful deliveries on the first attempt, and delivery vehicles need to visit fewer locations. Today, 300 parcel lockers are available throughout Croatia, including on some islands like Korčula, Hvar, Brač, Vis, Pag, Vir, and Krk, and they are located in high-traffic and easily accessible locations. In all major cities, parcels are delivered to lockers the next working day, and this delivery method is suitable for all lifestyles. They are available every day of the week, 24 hours a day, allowing customers to pick up and send their packages contactlessly at a time that suits them best.

Croatian Post regularly monitors the frequency of parcel locker usage and relocates them to other locations where there is a greater demand for this type of delivery. Over the past year, about twenty parcel lockers have been repositioned to more convenient locations for customers. Croatian Post’s parcel lockers are among the few on the domestic market that offer customers the option of card payment when picking up or sending packages, and all locker locations can be checked on the Post’s website.
