Never before in the history of the Boris Hanžeković Memorial have five hurdlers, each with a career-best time under 12.50 seconds, competed in the same race, as it will happen this year.
Although many Olympic and world champions have run the 100 meter hurdles at the Boris Hanžeković Memorial, there has never been a race with five hurdlers who have clocked times under 12.50 seconds in their careers. This year’s event features just such a field on its preliminary start list.
Special attention will be on the current Olympic silver medalist and European champion Cyréna Samba-Mayela, with a personal best of 12.31 seconds. Even faster this year is Paris Olympics finalist Ackera Nugent, whose time of 12.28 seconds is the ninth fastest ever in the event.
2022 world silver medallist Britany Anderson has a personal best of 12.31 seconds, while Tonea Marshall ran 12.36 seconds in the final of the U.S. Olympic Trials. Also breaking the 12.50-second mark is Devynne Charlton (12.44 seconds), who is the current world champion and world 60 meter hurdles record holder.
Croatian best hurdlers, Mia Wild and Ivana Lončarek, will seek their chance for a good race as well.
The meeting record set last year by Tokyo Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn stands at 12.47.
