The women’s high jump will certainly be one of the best events at the 70th Zagreb Meeting, part of the WA Continental Tour Gold series.
Two world’s top ranked high jumpers are coming to Zagreb, Ukraine’s Yuliya Levchenko and Yaroslava Mahuchikh, the only two female high jumpers who cleared 200 cm this year. Levchenko is the 2017 world silver medallist from London, who also competed in Zagreb a year earlier. Mahuchikh won silver at last year’s World Championships in Doha, where she also set the women’s U20 world record with 204 cm.
Nicola McDermott, forth in the world high jump rankings (198 cm), and Erika Kinsey, currently ranked fifth (195 cm), will also be sharing the field with them in Mladost Stadium on 15 September.
Croatia’s three best high jumpers – Ana Šimić (178 cm), Sara Aščić (176 cm) and Tihana Jeletić (178 cm) – will also participate in the maybe strongest high jump competition this year.
