A great triple jump competition is expected at the Zagreb Meeting

At the 76th Boris Hanžeković Memorial we will see a triple jump competition the likes of which we have never seen in Zagreb before.

The list is headed by one of the biggest sensations of athletics competitions at the Olympic Games in Paris, Thea Lafond. The athlete from Dominica, a Caribbean country with a population of only 72 thousand, jumped 15.02 meters in the French capital and won the gold medal. That same year, she also won the world indoor gold medal, and last year she won silver at the World Championships in Tokyo.

Better than her in the Japanese capital was Leyanis Pérez Hernández, who will also jump at the Mladost Stadium on June 26. The Cuban was unbeatable last year, having also won gold at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing. Her personal best is 14.98.

Behind Pérez Hernández in Nanjing was her compatriot Liadagmis Povea, and we will also be watching her at this year’s Hanžeković Memorial. Her personal best is also very close to 15 meters, 14.93 to be exact.

Among others, the former world long jump champion Ivana Španović and  Paola Borović from Croatia will be on the runway.

The meeting record since 2021 is held by current Olympic silver medalist Shanieka Ricketts with 14.77 meters.
