At the 76th Boris Hanžeković Memorial, Elaine Thompson-Herah will compete in the 100 m race.
This fantastic Jamaican is a five-time Olympic champion and the only female runner in history to have won gold medals in both the 100m and 200m at two consecutive Olympic Games. Moreover, only one male athlete in the history of the Games has managed to do so – her compatriot Usain Bolt.
Elaine Thompson-Herah’s personal best in the 100m is 10.54. This is the second best result of all time, faster than that (10.49) was only run by Florence Griffith Joyner in 1988.
Thompson-Herah ran a very fast 10.92 in Jamaica back in April and her arrival in Europe is awaited with great interest. For athletics fans in Zagreb and Croatia, this is very interesting information because 10.92 is the Zagreb Meeting 100-meter record, which has been held by Anelia Nuneva since 1988.
