Zagreb’s main square will welcome 8 meters jumps again

The Zagreb City Challenge was introduced last year. A jumping competition was held at Zagreb’s Ban Jelačić Square as part of the Boris Hanžeković Memorial. This competition will take place again on Friday, 8 September, starting at 6 PM, and featuring a parallel women’s and men’s long jump competition.

Last year, fans witnessed multiple over eight meters jumps up close. Croatian outstanding long jump duo, Filip Pravdica (8.04) and Marko Čeko (8.00), both exceeded eight meters. There is no doubt that this year, athletes will be once again jumping well beyond the eight-meter mark.

The very attractive list of long jumpers is led by former world champion and recent World Championships bronze medallist Tajay Gayle, whose season’s best is 8.27 meters, with a personal best of a remarkable 8.69 meters.

His biggest competitor will be another Budapest finalist, William Williams, who is the United States indoor champion and who has a season’s best of 8.23 meters. We will watch Australian athlete Liam Adcock (8.15), along with the best Croatian long jumpers, Filip Pravdica and Marko Čeko.
